Dear friends,

I have a GigaByte H81M-S1 motherboard just updated with the latest drivers. I'm planning to upgrade from my Celeron G1820 to a Unlocked Pentium G3258. I was wondering if my current mobo will support overclocking with it. Thanks!
Regards,
Marc

Officially, no. You need a Z97 series board. Unofficially, maybe. Some motherboard manufactures are releasing bios updates that allow you to OC. Check with Gigabyte and see if they have any new releases and google your board to see if it includes the options you need.

Also heres a write up Toms did on the CPU. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/pentium-g3258-overc...

Just gonna get the chip and see for myself , and if it doesnt work i'll get a z97 board. Nice!
