Built my new system last night and didn't realize that the power line for the CPU cooler had bound up its fan. I only had the system running for an hour or so before I realized what was happening. Core Temp says it averaged ~80 degrees and at one point had hit 95. Am I screwed?

Solution
The maximum 24/7 operating temperature for 32NM CPUs and newer Intel CPUs is 105c. You could have been cooking at 105c for 4 hours and you would have been okay, but it would have reduced the lifetime. More heat always means less lifetime. A CPU that always ran at 40c will last longer than a CPU that always ran at even 41c. However, the higher it is, the larger the effect will be.

95 °C is way too hot for sustained operation, but that's because it will probably harm the processor's overall lifespan. Practically speaking, you can't instantly kill a processor with heat alone, because it will throttle before that. As long as you aren't running your system at that temperature for very long or very often, it's fine.
