I started to build my new system yesterday when I encountered a couple of issues that I decided to consult others on before continuing.
1) I never bottom-mounted a PSU before but this is how the HAF is configured. How is this better than the traditional top-mount with fan exhausting out the back of the tower? I mounted my Corsair HX750 PSU with the fan facing in towards the case rather than facing the bottom (which would vent into my carpet). I assume this was the right way to mount it??
2) I wasn't planning on mounting the wheels on the tower because it will be sitting on my carpet. Is this necessary? My previous tower had feet.
3) The HAF tower has a VGA bracket and VGA duct which are something I've never seen before in a tower. The instructions on Page 10 of the HAF state to install either a VGA bracket or side air duct. My ASUS GTX 660 card came with no separate cooling fan. Is there a need to mount an additional fan in either of these if I'm only using one video card and not OC'ing anything in my system at all? Should I just omit the bracket and duct since they will serve no purpose in my configuration? And why do they call it a VGA bracket? Isn't VGA obsolete?
4) Unless I missed it, the Hero Vi has no 1394 ports. If I want the 1394 port functional on the tower I supposed I'll have to purchase and install a 1394 card.
5) What is Asus USB 3.0 Boost (on board)?
6) What is USB Charger + feature on external USB port 10?
7) The 8 GB (2 x 4GB) Ripjaws Series X that I purchased are not listed in the compatibility list in the Hero manual. Is there a resource that contains up-to-date memory compatibility? I have the DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) F3-2400C11D-8GXM version. I could have sworn that that I purchased it only because it was a Newegg recommendation.
I hope to get this system up and running tonight. All I have left to install is the GTX 660, the SSD, the dual Blu-Ray drives and then eventually the four 1TB drives from my current PC.
Thanks!
