I have spent a lot of time on one forum or another and Moderated on one until it shut down earlier this year. I do not remeber seeing any issues with the CX series of PSUs, in fact I've noticed that some top rated Boutique builders have been using them. I believe that CX 500m is full modular. YOu are right in that Modular or non modular has no effect on the caps used and that is an important consideration. My point is that from my experience, I have seen no issues with the CX series.
Hi. The PSU is fine. It is a modular one. That is helpful in Cable management. XFX and Seasonic are good but trying to get a full Modular PSU could add a bit to the cost. As for the case it is a good one and you will get good airflow with the fans that are included. I am using that case and you can add fans later if you feel you need them.

Just because the PSU is modular (CXM) doesn't mean the capacitors are any better than the non-modular ones (CX). Do a few searches on failure rates and actual output before buying. ...just stay away will be the consensus of the forum.
