Does one have to assign an static ip address to the printer or leave it at DHCP? If you do not, will the ip address change everytime you turn on and off the printer? If you do have to assign an ip address to the printer, then do you have to tell the router that an ip address has been assign to that printer? If you do, then in what field text inside the router should I be looking for to tell it an ip address has been assigned?

I have a Wireless network, and will be buying a wireless network printer. :)

You can use either static or DHCP. If you use a static IP address, you need to be sure it's not within the router's DHCP address pool or modify the router's DHCP's address pool so that the printer's address doesn't fall within it.

A static address will remain after power cycling the printer.

Check your router manual for DHCP information.

Your DHCP may have reservations for IPs. If it does then the printer can be assigned the same IP every time.

If not and you want a static IP so you can reach the printer's control page in your browse try this. Set the DHCP assignment range to start at something like 192.168.X.26. This gives you enough static IPs, from .2 to .25 to set whatever static IPs you want without conflicts.

On mine, the APs and bridge are .1 .2 .3 .4 .5. The printers are .7 .8. Reservations start at .100. There is no doubt from the IP number whether the IP is static, dynamic or reserved.

It may only be an illusion of control over the beast, but it is a comforting illusion. ;)
