I have a ga-x58-usb3 motherboard. Last week the system would not post. My video card was starting with all fans running full force and would not cycle down. I swapped my 460 gtx for an old gts 8800. Problem fixed or so I thought. The problem reared its ugly head again last night with the 8800gts. By reseting the bios I was able to post and boot again. I don't have another board to try the components in. My question is how do I isolated the problem here. It still could be the video card that card is pretty old.

try resetting your bios again and boot into your OS from there i would recommend running a few graphics test to determine the issue. Do this for moth cards just to be sure. Run a memory test as well.

did memory test, video card burn in with the 8800( cannot get the 460 to post), tried another psu(not to cofident on that psu it is old as well). The pc has booted with 8800 without issues from last night. Guess I am at the wait and see point........
