So i just bought a new cpu (only the cpu) a AMD FX-8350 which is compatible with my motherboard, an asus M5A78L-M LX3. i took out my old cpu and put in the new one, i put on new thermal paste and put the heat sink back in place. Everything inside the computer is perfectly fine from what i can see, but when i turn my computer on after maybe 10 minutes to an hour it will shut off (sometimes restarting on its own or staying off.) it will shut off in the middle of whatever im doing it doesnt exactly seem to be a performance issue. i can be on youtube, minecraft, or watching a stream and it will still shut off.

There are only two issues i can think to be the problem but honestly im clueless at this point.
1. The first problem being i didnt properly put on the thermal paste, or i dont have a good enough heat sink even though i bought one better than the stock heat sink already.
2. The 2nd being theres something i need to install or update.

Solution
Actually, the FX-8350 is not among the supported CPUs for the motherboard as listed on the manufacturer site. You can try a BIOS update, but I don't think it'll help.

The motherboard has a TDP of 95W. The FX-8350 uses up to 125W.

Check if your bios version supports AMD FX-8350. Asus usually has a list of CPU's and bios versions that are supported.
Download Hardware Monitor from cpuid.com and run prime95 to check temperatures under load. If temps are ok but PC is powering off under load then it might be your PSU.
