Hi, i am looking to build a cheapish HTPC as i don't want high power consumption i would like a cpu with a inboard graphics card.

I have been out of the PC scene for a while, so what will fit the bill. I will only do light gaming on the machine.

Thanks

AMD's APU's have the highest performing integrated GPUs (iGPU). However, they generally consume more power than Intel CPUs and also have lower raw CPU performance. There are several different iGPU core, the more expensive / more powerful APU will have higher performing iGPUs. However, in the end if you want the best gaming performance with iGPU, then AMD is the way to go.

Intel's Haswell CPUs basically have the Intel HD 4600 graphics core. While not the most powerful iGPU, it is more powerful than some of AMD's iGPUs. In terms of raw CPU performance, Intel wins hands down. AMD's APU simply cannot beat Intel in this regard, however, AMD's APU still provides good raw CPU performance for the price. Intel CPUs also consume less power than...

In almost any computer store, you can get any HDMI small desktop that wont run the latest games, or programs, but can still play and stream HD video, for about $100, full Windows 8. I suggest instead of building one buy a cheap unwanted one, as there are many right now in the market.

See following link to game benchmarks of the AMD Radeon R7 iGPU that is in the A10-7850k APU.

For best balance of iGPU performance and power consumption, you will want to look at the AMD A8-7600 APU which can switch between 45w and 65w modes. The difference in iGPU performance between those two modes is relatively small and as a whole the A8-7600 performs pretty close to the A10-7850k APU which is rated at 95w.
