After around six years of service, my old Samsung 19" TFT slowly died.
At first the picture would go all white after turning it on, i had to turn it off/on a couple of times before it would go back to normal. When that stopped working i borrowed an old 17" TFT from a friend for two days. After i returned it to him it wouldn't turn on.

So before buying a new monitor i want to determine what is the cause of this.
I guess that the most logical assumption would be that there is a problem with electric installations in my apartment. Of course it could also be a coincidence since both moniors are really old. But since monitor is also conected to a graphic card i just wanted to make sure that there is no chance a malfunctioning graphic card could damage the monitor.

So that is my question, could graphic card cause monitor malfunction?
I know it is maybe a silly question but i need to be sure befo buying an UPS.

Solution
Graphics card would have no affect. First thing that came to my mind was that they were both old! Coincidence? Possibility. Put them on a ups. Good luck!

Tnx for reply, I am buying an UPS.

Just wanted to be sure that there is no way a graphic card could be the cause of this.
I would hate it if I invest money in UPS, and then see the new monitor having problems.
