This build is focused on gaming (with as much future proofing that's reasonable).

I'm pretty much set on the cpu, the ssd/hdd, and the case.

Where I would like some feedback is:

  • What to choose between the different series of the GTX770 4gb since there's a pretty decent price gap (unless the gigabyte is just on sale or something) http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/compare/evga-video-card-04gp43778kr%2Cgigabyte-video-card-gvn770oc4gd/

What to choose for a power supply for a potential 2-way SLI in the future (right now I have 650W for just one card, should I go with ~850W for 2-way?)

And for this setup, I based my motherboard choice on the cheapest Z97 chipset that allows 2-way SLI

What're your opinions on 16gb (2x4gb) of 1866 Mhz CAS 9 ram? I've heard mulitple opinions on the "sweet spot" being around 1866 and 2133 in terms of latency compensations.

And while I'm at it, I'll likely do some pretty standard OCing, nothing crazy. Do you feel that the H100i works fine with this setup?
Anywhere I can cut some corners and reduce the price is preferable. ~$1450 is not quite where I hoped to be, but is still doable for me. (My preferences on purchasing is microcenter, but I'll order from amazon/newegg/tigerdirect also if microcenter doesn't price match something)

(If anyone's curious, I'll mostly be using one monitor, VG278HE at 144Hz)

I don't recommend SLI unless your PC has excellent airflow and is living in a cool place, or if you're using watercooling on them. SLI generates a lot of heat and consumes a lot of power. Night as well just get a better single card in future.

What are your most played games ? Are you planning on running any intensive application on that PC ?

You can save some cash by not overclocking. you could go treat yourself to a fancy restaurant to celebrate your success

If you are intending on going for sli then I would definitely get a 850 watt PSU for that but if you are at the reach of your budget now you could always upgrade the PSU at the same time as you buy the next graphics card because 650 watts will do for now. If i were you though I would upgrade to maybe a 780 or 780 ti before going to sli because even though the performance of the sli will be better it does limit you to that card when you go to sli.

The H100i will do fine for OCing, iv got one for a hot 8350 and it works great so don't work about that.

Everything else seems pretty damn good and you're in for a treat when you get this thing booted up and start playing :)

Yeah I was kind of leaning towards a single card with 650W psu,

I'll most likely go with that. I don't play many demanding games atm, mostly because my 4 year old budget pc is putting along running modern games on low (highest end lately is probably DayZ SA). But once I get a new setup I'll be playing across the whole spectrum.

If the price difference is small, I don't mind putting it towards overclocking.

650 Watt + single 770 for the time being seems to be closing in on me for the solution. Thanks for the response.

Depending on my budgeting in the next few weeks, I may up it to 780.
