So I don't want to be a video game tester I have a great job I'm just curious I would like to know how do people find "Buggs" glitches" in games , do you just play a game and write down if something strange or odd happens or is it more complex then that ? And how do you get into beta testing I would love to try out new games before they come out help out companies but how do you go about that do I sign up some place , only play pc Games I can't go back to consoles lol but just would like in I googled it and all infer is how tk become a test not how does the tester work what qualifies him to test games and not cool burgers

If you want to play games before they come out, that's not what a tester really does, they don't really play. A playtester, yes, but a tester finds bugs and that's tedious work. If you want to play games before they come out, you should just pre order it, usually they have some deal with early access. It's about the only time most people can play a game before others. Beta for online games are more common but game companies aren't just going to let a lot of people play for no reason. You don't want to be a tester so the only other way is to be a playtester but this is rare unless you are a reviewer for a popular reviewing company. But you can try places like vgmarket if they are in your city.

You purposely replicate glitches that appeared in similar games before and look at the programming to try to notice any points were there would be a possible glitch and test it. Dont know the whole concept behind the job but i know this much. Uncle did it for like 2 yrs but he got tired of it.

Sometimes you will see something where some one is looking for Beta testers. I can say this, I was a Moderator on another Forum until it shut down earlier this year. We Beta tested the new forum software before it went live and believe me, it can be a real pain. You are looking for things that should work and don't. With games it can be stuff like getting stuck in walls ( or even walking through them ) and things of that nature. There are so many things that can go wrong in games such as something you need but can't pick up. You have probably experienced some things of that nature that got through. I run into it more than I'd like and wonder about the beat testing. I don't run beta drivers as I am not going to be a test bench. In short, what may sound like fun, most likely won't be.

Plenty of such jobs exist in Silicon valley or down here in Irvine, California. Seen plenty of Beta Testers needed opportunities then they close the list. Mainly your spending the day wandering in a game area trying out EVERYTHING, jumping off every surface, running into every single wall, etc.. basically trying to find holes int he game or bad spawn points, etc. For example Spawning underneath the play area, or as the infamous BF4 boat used to appear on top of building during the beta (should have known how buggy the game was when we saw that happen for over a month!). Then you have a standard form to file, explaining exactly very step you did to cause it, and repeat this over.. and over.. and over and over. NO you don't actually 'play' the game, your just one of many 'monkeys' sitting there doing a segment of the game, so you really don't know much about the game perse other then the parameters outlined.

HOW to get the job: Well you better be either a 'name' on the 'list' of gamers (aka top 1000 if there is 1million players) or have a LONG list of completed games under your belt that you can recite off "oh yeah when I went left bravo then ducked to the right pipe, yeah I found the yellow gnome there... " without skipping a beat. Now we are talking serious lonnnnggggg tedious hours too.. it isn't really alot of fun till much later when it goes into Alpha then Beta for testing. I been in each of the BF4 Betas so far, as well as TitanFall and a couple others, so I done my 'volunteer' reporting before without compensation (which seems to be how alot of them want to avoid the costs of employing you).
