So when i go and shut down my computer my monitor turns black and everything but my computer seems to not have really done anything. All my fans stay on on my computer but the only thing that turns off is my monitor. So then in order for me to shut down my computer i have to go and manually turn it off on the psu. I don't have a clue to how to start tofix this problem so if anyone could help me out it would be awesome, Thanks!

Replacing the PSU is not the definitive answer. I, for example, have a laptop that does the same thing as your computer. When i turn it off, it stays up until i shut it down the hard way. Yes, a defective power supply can be a possible reason for this but do not forget that a faulty motherboard or faulty drivers can also lead to this phenomenon. Try reinstalling windows or another operating system on another hard drive to see if this is a driver problem (don't forget to unplug your regular hard drive before doing so). Other improbable causes may be CMOS corruption or a new windows patch that caused incompatibility with your current BIOS (need to flash bios with new version).
