My dad is connected to internet through free wifi. The problem is that he is very far away from the signal so i had to buy him a long-range Alfa USB antenna that can catch the signal from a mile away.

This is the antenna i am using:
http://www.amazon.com/ALFA-Network-AWUS036H-Wireless-802-11g/dp/B000WXSO76

Now the problem is that he would like to connect his laptop wirelessly, without having to connect the Alfa USB antenna. But if he uses his internal wifi card, it isn't powerful enough to catch the signal.

Basically, i would need some kind of router that can get the signal from the Alfa USB antenna and then redistribute the wifi signal inside his house. He would then be able to use his laptop's internal wifi card to connect to the router inside his house, and that router would get the signal from the Alfa USB.

In other words the setup would be :
Alfa USB -> access point router -> laptop

But is it possible to buy a router that can use an external USB antenna instead of using the internal wifi which isn't as powerful as the Alfa ?

Your very confused about all this.... First off I am trying to understand the second part your speaking of. " he would like to connect his laptop wirelessly, without having to connect the Alfa USB antenna." WHAT is he trying to "wirelessly connect to" that the Alfa USB isn't connected to?

If your meaning redistribute the 'Free' Wifi so others can use it at his house, I will tell you now Tom's Hardware does NOT support STEALING (which it is) other people's Internet service. TH can not validate that your 'Free Wifi' he is connecting to isn't infact a neighbor's that is unsecure since it is so far away.

Who talked about stealing ? My city (Shawinigan in Quebec, Canada) distributes free wifi

What he's trying to do is th redistribute the wifi signal from the Alfa USB so others can use it at his house AND my dad can connect to the wifi through his router instead of having to plug the Alfa through USB.

TH can not validate that your 'Free Wifi' he is connecting to isn't infact a neighbor's that is unsecure since it is so far away.
Guilty until proven innocent ? So democratic.

Following the same logic, i can't ask for support for my Windows OS because you can't prove i didn't crack it ? This is ridiculous.

Then, legally, contact your City Counsel of Shawinigan in Quebec, Canada and request they expand the wifi to your Dad's neighborhood. Because the solution is the use of a long range external Wifi router to 'extend' the range which requires synchronizing with the main Network (which you do not have access to to administrate) in order to pass through all the tech that makes the 'connection' work (i.e. providing DHCP, packets that maybe filtered per Goverment Law, etc.).

As your a bunch of words on the screen here, and as such can't prove your telling the truth on what your saying, and that would be (redistributing of a City Wifi) violation of the City Ordinances, much less Canadian Law on illegal hacking (YOU are NOT a authorized technician for the City of Shawinigan nor a City representative to decide where wifi should reach), YES this would be considered a violation of Tom's Hardware Forum TOS (illegal redistribution of Wifi).

Unless your father either lives in Shawinigan, or in an adjoining township that has an agreement with Shawinigan to redistribute their signal then what you are trying to do constitutes theft of service (yes, even "free" service can be stolen) and no one here will help beyond this point.
