Recently bought a r9 280x msi gaming edition card, and crossfire'd it with my 7970 asus DCu2 card. I haven't really noticed a performance increase (playing CS:GO), but what I did notice is that in BF4 and PvZ:GW the mantle option just blacks out my monitor and doesn't respond which prompts me to restart. I have no idea if I's suppose to configure these cards specifically, I do run the latest AMD beta drivers. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, just wondering if there is anyway to fix this?

Specs:
fx 8120 stock speed
asrock 970 extreme3
8gb kingston blu ram
r9 280x msi gaming edition stock
7970 asus DCu2 stock
850watt PSU

I would try installing the beta drivers from AMD's website. They are always releasing new versions to improve mantle performance and stability.

Two likely culprits 1) Turn off any OC 2) turn off crossfire (yeah I know but... we are trying to see where the problem arises to cause it to not function) and test again.

Your PCIe slots run at x16/x4, which is not optimal for Crossfire. I'm not sure how well this would work, particularly with two slightly different cards.
Also, unless you're playing on a 3xmonitor setup, I would expect your CPU to be the bottleneck for cards at this level, so a second graphics card is not going to help.

Take it off mantle and turn on dx11. Mantle causes crashes for me with pvz gw. I have 3 290x and 3 monitors
