PC stability problems with new RAM. Advice?

Hello, I have some new 1333MHZ 4gb Elixir RAM that I'm trying to install on my ASUS P8B75-M LE motherboard, and I'm having problems.

The motherboard currently has two 2GB RAM modules of the same frequency, but when I remove one to insert the 4GB stick the PC will not boot. Everything spins up, but there is no beep and I cannot access the BIOS. Bizarrely however, it did work previously. The first time I put the RAM in it had the same outcome as I'm experiencing now, then it just started working. It bluescreened while gaming, then settled down and worked fine for about 4 days before randomly bluescreening again, and I have not been able to use it since.

I've tried all the obvious solutions, such as trying all the possible RAM configurations in the two memory slots. Any ideas?

Mismatched RAM. You can use either the 2X2GB that you already have or only the Elixir 4GB. Try using only the 1X4GB configuration. Mismatched RAM sometimes won't work even if they have the same timings, frequency and voltage. It's only going to be worse if something is different between them.

This doesn't seem like the answer as I've already tried booting with only the 4GB stick with the same results. And, like I said it DID work alongside a 2GB stick for a while too.

I haven't, but now I can't even get it to bluescreen as the PC won't even boot with the new RAM in it. I'm not sure if windows keeps logs of those errors somewhere?

There probably is a dump for log files somewhere but better to get the PC booted up. I'm assuming that you already tried booting with no RAM and you didn't get any beeps? Keep in mind your motherboard needs a speaker for beep codes, does your motherboard have an internal speaker?

I'm working on getting the bluescreen dump files now.

Yes I get a beep when I boot normally, but with the new RAM there is no beep. Same goes if I try and boot with no ram at all.

Got a program to view dmp files. I'm not sure if they're giving me relevant information though.

last logged crash was caused by "Unpexpected_kernel_mode_trap", caused by driver ntoskml.exe.

No it's always been fine. For some reason I guess this RAM just isn't compatible (despite the fact it actually DID work for a while!?) .

The DRAM_LED flashes red once when I put the new ram in (at least I think it's the DRAM_LED, it's just next to where the RAM goes.)

That is DRAM_LED and I couldn't find what red light means but my best guess would be not properly installed or not working RAM. Elixir has some qualified RAM on the ASUS qualified vendor list for your mobo however I don't know your RAM part number so you can go and check that if you desire so. If you look at the dump file with WinDbg you will probably get the driver that's to blame and you can uninstall it if it makes problems in the future or if you don't need it.

Thanks for your replies RastislavB. I don't think I'm gonna find a solution to this problem unfortunately, looks like it's just "one of those things."
