So I recently bought a new tablet to supplement the two PC's and laptop in my house. Before, none of these devices were connected at all, other than operating on the same wifi. Now, I was wondering if there was anyway to access files saved on the SSD of my PC's from my tablet or laptop and vice versa. If that's possible, how would I set it up?

Secondly, one major thing I was hoping to be able to do was to initiate a download on my tablet or laptop but download it to my PC via its hardwired connection. Is that possible?

Lastly, I was looking at Corsair voyager air to do that. I was hoping I could connect that to my router and use that a storage option with all my devices connected to it. Would that enable me to enable a download to it on my tablet using wifi but actually downloading the file on the hardwired ethernet? Sorry for the wall of text but thank you in advance for all the replies.

you can share a folder on your windows pc (or linux or mac) and use any available samba file sharing android app out there to access it. if it's just media, then plex, xbmc, vlc, can access a shared folder via wifi and stream videos/music/pics, etc. if you want just random file access, something like ES File explorer will connect to a LAN shared drive.

to start a download, not really. you can however, either setup utorrent sharing and use the utorrent app, and then you can download a torrent on your phone and make your pc download it, or you can use a remote connection apps (google makes one) so you could remote control your PC from your phone/tablet/laptop/whatever and start the download there, download it to a shared folder, then access it on any wifi device.

Shared folders, and map a drive letter.
For instance, on my HTPC, there are a few shared folders. Movies, music, 'stuff'. On my main PC, the folder 'Stuff' is mapped as the S drive letter.

If I want to download something directly to that other PC, I simply download it to a subfolder of "S". Same with Music. Buy an album, it downloads directly to the "M" drive, which lives on the HTPC.

As long as all devices live on the same LAN, shared access is pretty easy.

Thank you for replying!! However, how does one share a folder? Is that an option when you right click or...? Also my tablet runs straight Windows 8.1 so an android app won't do. Again, thank you!!
