im looking for a laptop and ive got stuck between a couple these are the figures. i want the laptop for work related use maybe running some medium duty software.
1) Intel i3 processor 4th generation 1.7GHz clockspeed coming with 6GB RAM
2) intel i3 processor 3rd generation with 1.8GHz clockspeed and 8GB RAM
3) AMD Quad Core 1.9GHz 8GB RAM.
The laptop wont be used for gaming so the AMD Graphics card can be ignored im solely looking towards the operating power with the ability to multi-function without loss of speed.

Solution
Actually, they are all about equal, assuming i've been looking at the correct CPU models.

Are these correct:

i3 4010U 1.7GHz,

i3 3217U 1.8GHz,

A8 4500M 1.9GHz?

what have been the major updates for the intel i3 between the 3rd generation and 4th? i can find it on their site?
Id be expecting the usual such as the power drawn would be decreased but is there anything significant?

and its the Intel Core i3-4005U instead if 4010U

Ah, i was close :)

Slightly more power efficient, slightly better performance due to the 4th gen Haswell architecture.

There are updated instruction sets on the Haswell, but you would only see improvement from these if your software can utilise them.
