I'm building a new PC with these parts Pcpartpicker list.

In order for me to use 120hz or 144hz, I would need to use a dual link DVI-D cable. Does the motherboard I have listed and graphics card listed support/have slots for the dual link DVI-D?

Also, if they are compatible with DVI-D, would I need to buy a seperate sound card since dual link DVI's don't transmit sound? (The motherboard has on-board sound, but I dunno if using DVI-D would allow for sound) If so, I 'd rather buy a separate sound card and use 120hz+.

Thanks in advance.

If you use DVI, you won't need a soundcard. it can still ceom from the motherboard and go to the monitor or your speakers. In reality, 99.9999% of monitor speakers suck and you will want a surround system or a gaming headset, so hooking them up to sound has nothing to do with the monitor, the motherboard will supply whatever.

displayport is the latest tech for PC audio/video.

Okay thanks. I edited earlier that the monitor comes with dual link DVI-D cables, so it wouldn't be necessary to get displayport cables if the DVI delivers sound right?

And in the first part of the OP I asked if the Mobo/GPU had support for dual link DVI-D, does anyone know?

the DVI doesn't do sound, so you would need an 1/8" male to male connector to go from the motherboard to the monitor for sound.

The motherboard doesn't matter, but the GPU does and as long as it has a dual-link DVI port, which you can look up the specs, then it supports dual link DVI.
