I am unable to install windows on SSD drive

Windows is unable to locat setup files.

I have AHCI controller and I cannot switch to IDE from bios doesnt gives me option.

I tried creating primary partition set alignment but windows wont install.

rcugch.jpg

Edited: Getting an error “Couldn't create new partition or locate existing one. For more information, see Setup log file" error message” while trying to install Windows 7

Solved:

- I used my university computer to make a bootable USB 2.0 but the PC didn't recognize it for some reason.

- I created another bootable USB 3.0 with Microsoft USB/DVD Download tool.

- was able to boot up into Microsoft Windows Installer.

- as soon as I came back to this part. I encountered same problem again "http://i60.tinypic.com/rcugch.jpg"

I exit my flash drive and got an another error that windows cannot install on the selected disk.

I changed my Flash Drive Port from right to left and re-tried it, got same error "Windows Cannot able to find partition or existing one"

- Deleted the partition.
- When Trying to create new one instead of creating full 230 GB partition, I changed the size from 230 to 220 GB and it automatically created 100 MB System Partition, tried to install it and boom! , it worked!

Small story short, there is nothing wrong with USB 3.0.

Go to "Repair Your Computer"

Diskpart
List disk
Select "SSD Disk"
Clean
Create Partition Primary align = 1024 // Alignment 1024 is a must
Format fs = ntfs quick
Assign
Active
Exit

Step 2: Restart Your PC.
Step 3: Boot from Flash Drive.
Step 4: When you come to that part where it gives you this error "Windows cannot able to find Partition or existing partition"

Delete the drive.

The entire game is here, Make sure you do not have any External HD, SD or internal hard drive attached.

Take your USB out, switch port
Re-do it.
might give you error again.

Hit "New"
decrease around 3-4 GB size.

When it says "System Partition" just click next.

Are you installing Windows from a home-burn DVD or flash drive? If so, that could cause the issue and is something I deal with regularly.

Otherwise, I would start by Secure Erasing the SSD. This can be done with something like Parted Magic or by a utility provided by the manufacturer.

I'm installing windows from USB drive.
I do not have any OS or hard-drive installed currently.

How do I secure Erase the SSD?

it only shows one disk
disk 0 with 256 GB space - Primary Partition, but setup says windows is unable to find system files.

Edited: I also accidentally Erased my Hard-Drive.
People said you would need to disconnect hard-drive so I did but still im facing the same problem.

You are booting from the install media? Rather than trying to start it from within Windows....

Trying to install Fresh OS on SSD, by booting up from USB.

getting this error
“Couldn't create new partition or locate existing one. For more information, see Setup log file" error message” while trying to install Windows 7

With an USB or a burned disk, you sometimes run into issues with Windows confusing itself. An apparently empty drive won't take an install, or installs won't boot. Secure Erasing the SSD completely erases the drive, not just pretends that there isn't any data on it. Doing this will give a clean drive to work with. If it doesn't work after that, it means there is likely something wrong with the installer on the USB.

Is it a factory USB from Microsoft or one you made?

I have removed my optical drive with optical bay currently its disconnected because people said if u have HD and SD installed windows installer will get confused.

I used Microsoft Windows 7 USB Tool to make bootable USB drive.

I'm going to try this for now:

Start DISKPART.
Type LIST DISK and identify your SSD disk number (from 0 to n disks).
Type SELECT DISK <n> where <n> is your SSD disk number.
Type CLEAN
Type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
Type ACTIVE
Type FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK
Type ASSIGN
Type EXIT twice (one to get out of DiskPart, the other to exit the command line tool)

Definitely try using the installer to fix it. It works sometimes, though I have always had better success with a bootable outside of Windows. The optical being in or not shouldn't be an issue. Also, make sure your SSD is on a SATA port controlled by an Intel or AMD controller. Though third party controllers are often bootable, they can cause problems.

Try the USB in a 2.0 port if you have one. Even using the USB bootable tool from Microsoft, I get a pretty high failure rate. Again, make sure the SSD is on an Intel controlled SATA port, especially if the other ports (if any) are controlled by Asmedia.

Yeah, I didn't answer that. SSD is on the primary slot and HDD was supposed to be in Optical Bay Drive.

something is wrong here.
I burned Windos 7 ISO using Windows Image Burner to DVD, it didn't boot up.
I burned Windows 7 ISO using Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to DVD, still didn't work.

Now I'm creating Bootable USB on 3.0 and 2.0 will try again.

and how do I securely erase the SSD I do not have operating system working.

I was able to install windows on my SSD. but I do not see any magical performance upgrade, it just seems that I have a new windows, just like any new windows starts, its booting that way.

However I have used "Clean all " on my SSD and quit in the mid-way because it was taking too much time,
for about 2 times.

Do you still think I need to use it?

by the way one important lesson learned. Bootable USB for PC won't work if you have created from MAC. Since I had no working operating system on PC I was forced to create bootable USB for PC in MAC. It doesn't work!

Alright then, I'm going to use Secure Erase SSD with Partition magic and then re-install windows.

OK I have purchased it, help me how to make it
bootable, cant find instructions..

Edited: OK making this bootable is easy. So this is just good for securing erasing SSD or it's also useful erasing hard-drive to give it a performance boost?

One problem after another!

I bought 2 flash drives
USB 2.0 (San Disk)
USB 3.0 (Kingston) which contains my windows.

and I just read all over the internet USB 2.0 San Disk is a disaster!
so now I cannot create a bootable parted magic USB!

windows doesn't recognize it neither mac.
despite the driver is installed and it shows up in disk management.

edited: by the way I'm using Easeus data recovery software to recover my lost partitions on Hard-Drive, does this harm SSD? in the process of installing SSD and I accidentally deleted partitions on my main hard drive.
