OK. I have both a netgear router and modem running on windows 7 64 bit, on a custom built computer with a Gigabyte motherboard and a hp hard drive.

I had everything working fine, but I needed to wipe the computer...

After the wipe, I hooked up the router and modem and the computer will not update the drivers for it, and doesn't really recognize that they are there, they know they are plugged in, the ethernet cable lights up...no drivers, cant get the ones from the netgear website because im on a wirless connection right now, on account of the wired connection is non existant

Have tried switching out ethernet cords... I can't make since of this, only thing I can think of is that some bad happend during the wipe, something got deleted that shouldn't have, I have no clue at all.

the router and modem should be with their proper configuration, formatting your pc has no effect on them, it sounds more like Windows wasn't able to install your ethernet drivers, you'll have to look for them at gigabyte's website, download them (using another pc connected to internet ofc) and install them on your pc.

Not strictly true.. You certainly need the network card drivers for your Win 7 machine.. but if you using standard Ethernet - you don't need "Router" or "Modem" drivers.. the Win 7 machine needs know nothing about these.. that it cant get from the Ethernet interface.. and all normal standard network protocols etc.. should mean it just works..

The bloatware crap you usually get with routers and modems are usually completely unnecessary (I have never used them.. ever.. and never had a problem)
