Right now I have 8GB of 1333mHz RAM, I am looking to upgrade to faster RAM below $100 around 2133mHz, between doing this and adding another 8GB of 1333mHz RAM which would improve performance more?

  1. What specs?
  2. Faster RAM will give you better performance as long as the timings are low. But the difference is a couple frames at most in games. Doubling RAM capacity won't increase performance but will allow you to have more programs open.

    My computer setup:
    CPU: Intel i3-3220
    Motherboard: Asus P8B75-M micro-ATX LGA 1155
    Memory: 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333mHz
Memory Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon 7870 2GB
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B 80PLUS Bronze Certified

I will be upgrading my CPU to a 3570k soon.
  4. What you have is more than sufficient.
  5. Upgrading the speed of my RAM won't provide a tangible benefit for games like Battlefield 4 for example?
I get sub-standard performance due to my i3 currently but I thought the RAM also needed improvement.

After you buy the 3570k upgrade to 8 gb of 1866.
  7. Upgrading your cpu will provide big improvements. Then you can upgrade your ram if you feel it's necessary. CPU is your weakest link.
  8. Thanks for the help guys.
  9. Glad to assist.
  10. Actually, one more thing, which of the 8GB RAMs I listed do you guys think would be best?

Why not the 2133mHz? They are the same price.

Well $5 less on OutletPC but That doesn't make too much of a difference to me.
