Is it likely for a motherboard to be damaged from a CPU cooler?

I was [stupidly] not paying enough attention while putting the cooler on my CPU a couple days ago. I ended up warping the metal stand of the cooler from the tension of screwing it in, but somehow the CPU and motherboard don't appear to be damaged despite the great force exerted upon them.

However, perhaps related to that, or perhaps unrelated, my i3-4360 is running extremely hot under load. I never thought to test the heat before the problem with the cooler, so I don't know if the heat was bad before that.

I benchmarked the CPU using Novabench, and it scores exactly like it's supposed to.

HW Info results after about 15 seconds of Prime95:

I confirmed the maximum temps with Speedfan, HW Monitor, and Speccy as well.

I've tried everything I can think of, including two separate coolers, and I already have another thread asking for help fixing the issue, so that's not what I'm asking now. Now I have a couple different questions, if anyone could help.

Is there any way I can tell whether the motherboard or the CPU is the culprit?

Is it possible for a motherboard or CPU to be damaged by a CPU cooler without leaving behind visible marks?

Then I'm not sure whats with the temps but you said you had a different thread going for that...

Well with the original problem Your Thermal paste could have been spread too thin from tightening the cooler to far.

You said you tried different coolers but Did you change the thermal paste every time you changed cooler? Your suppose to. Not changing the paste could've screwed with the test for the different coolers.

Not sure if theres a way to tell which is the culprit but the cooler could've pushed down on the CPU from being too tight and bent the pins or you could've chipped a soldered point on the mobo from putting to much strain on it.

Yes, I cleaned off the thermal compound and replaced it each time I changed coolers.

Like I said I dont know of a way to check if its the Mobo or CPU thats causing the Heat problems but the second part, you asked if the components could've been damaged from the tension.

Yes they could've been damaged from you tightening the cooler too much putting strain on the mobo but It most likely has nothing to do with your heat problems if you did damage it. Also It could've damaged the CPU pins from the pressure applied on top of the CPU from the cooler but this is also unlikely because your pc is still running. So most likely the components didnt recieve any damage because you would've recieved some type of problem with your pc immediately besides having heat problems.
