I have been looking for AGES for drivers to try and fix this problem. Windows XP, freshly installed on a formatted hard drive, suddenly has a major issue with my Ethernet port. The port itself lights up, but the computer doesn't recognize the controller and smacks it on the "Other devices" tab of the Device Manager. I've tried to move drivers from a flash drive to the desktop, but with no luck. It seems as though the computer is refusing to accept the drivers. I enabled the LAN settings in the BIOS. I've lost it for help, and I would love if someone could actually give me some working information, or at least keep up a good conversation so I know where I am going! Please help! - Yanni

Oh, P.S. As well as the Ethernet Controller, the "Other devices" tab shows the PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible), all with a question mark and a smaller exclamation mark.

you need to install the drivers, not just move them over

Also Windows P is out of support so 7 would be preferable

Which motherboard re you using exactly?

I have a P35 that has win7 drivers :p

Go to your motherboard manufacturers website, look up your mobo model and download the latest drivers for the mobo and install them. Next go to the manufacturers website for your GPU (video card), download and install. Run Windows Update until there are no updates left and you are good to go.

I have tried to look for drivers on the manufacturer's website but to no avail. I will try and see if I can get some LAN Drivers to use. The motherboard is a P55G v.1.0 with a Pentium 4 Intel processor. It is made by PCChips.

most of the time, if you don't have drivers, the LAN won't work

Download the one for XP and the LAN, VGA and IDE Drivers are included in the package. Have to choose to download from Taiwan or China server. Audio and RAID drivers are separate downloads, as seen on the website.
