Yesterday my laptop powered up, but wouldn't POST.

So after checking that the warranty had expired (it has), I opened up and changed the CMOS battery and it worked.

But then today it wasn't POSTing again, so once again I changed the CMOS battery, it worked for about ten minutes before it shut itself down and wouldn't POST :(

I'm now out of CMOS batteries.

Could the issue be with the actual laptop battery or is it more likely to be the Motherboard?

Are you sure it's killing the batteries or is the shutdown period and taking it apart that's giving it a bit of time to boot back up. I doubt it's killing the battery, and even so, a computer will boot without a cmos battery, it just won't keep the date and time or the settings saved to the bios, but that's all it really does.

The only thing that will make it restart is changing the CMOS battery. It won't boot without the CMOS battery or with one of the CMOS batteries that is failing in it.
