Just got 100mbps

Hello I have 100 MB and when I download a torrent file I download it on 1-1.4 MB, I'm with a network card and and the router is in the next room and I just checked the other room and there are 95 mb and in my computer there is only 45
what do I do ?
my router and network card support in more then 100MB

You have 100Mb (notice the small b). If you download at 1.4MB (notice the big B). That is a 10 fold increase. So first, get your "b"'s in line.

Next, a torrent doesn't mean anything in terms of speed. That's only how fast the other seeds can send it to you.

Where are you getting the figures of 95 and 45 from? If you haven't, go to speedtest.net and use that for gauging speeds.

How far is the "next room" compared to your PC? cable length affects speed, as does quality of the cable. A crappy cable will get less speed.

And just because you have 100Mb/s, doesn't mean you will hit that on anything but doing speedtests. No sites or torrents usually send out that fast.

Also, does your computer go straight from the router in the other room into your pc via a cable, no other switches or anything else in between?

ya theres a big difference between a 100 megabit line and 100 megabyte. 100 megayte would be like a gigabyte in 100 seconds

I have a tplink device which connected to my computer with a cable and in the other room (about 10ft away) there is just black box and it has the LAN cable and power and one more cable

so it goes

modem->router->other pc

and

modem->router->random tplink device->your pc

Then seems to me the random tplink device might be the problem. is it a switch, hub, what is it?

I think the modem and the router are in the same device.

it's new i just bought it a coupld of days ago.. i can try to use my old one

so you're connected wireless to the router and not by a cable? You're confusing me.

Is your computer wifi? If so, and your router is only wireless G, then it's max 54mb/s max speed, you're getting 45mb/s, you're right on spot.

if youre getting 45 out of 54mb/s, you're wireless g. wireless N can support up 110mb/s or 300mb/s on 5ghz if your router supports it.

Look up the modem/router combo thing online. I have no idea what you have. Right now though, you're getting almost full G speeds.
