i dont really trust any power supply calculators online so i thought id ask here. what wattage do you think i would need for these specs? Note: i do not plan on overclocking the cpu/gpu/ram ever and i do not plan on getting sli either, so please dont factor that in.

mobo: ASUS Maximus VII Hero LGA 1150 Intel Z97
cpu: Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
cpu cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H60
ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz
gpu: GeForce GTX 770 2GB
ssd: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500GB
optical drives: ASUS 24X DVD Burner x2

also i dont have much experience on picking cases so if you have any suggestions please feel free. thx for reading.

For this setup, even a quality 450W supply would do (although barely). However, it is much more recommended to get at least 550W for additional headroom.

Pick from this list, and look only at tier one, tier two (a) and tier two (b):

As for the case... Corsair, Fractal, NZXT, Antec and Coolermaster all make great cases, it's a matter of your size/noise/cooling preferences.

Have you already purchased the parts? If you are not going to overclock then you can save money by buying a non-K series CPU (i7-4790) and an H series motherboard (Asus H97).

With regard to the power supply, I'd go for a quality 600~650W from Seasonic, XFX, Corsair just to have a bit of extra.

With cases, it's hard to recommend since each has his/her own taste with regards to looks and needs but I agree with what herrwizo said about Corsair, Fractal, NZXT, etc make great cases. Just make sure that it could accommodate the length of the graphics card.

ok so it sounds like a 550w-650w power supply is suitable thx for your responses.

as for the case, my preferences are that i highly stress that it be as quiet as possible. i dont really care about looks too much. with regards to size, i would like it to be large enough so that all the parts arent too cramped inside (other than that size isnt really an issue). which case models do you think fit my needs the best?

I would pick either Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 or Fractal Define R4 for this purpose.
