Like I said in the title, I recently purchased a i5-4690k and find the results lackluster.

This is my setup:

GFX Card: HD 7970 3GB
MOBO: MSI B85-G41 PC Mate
CPU: i5-4690k
RAM: 8GB 1333 Corsair
PSU: Cooler master silent pro 1000W

WoW is also installed on a new Samsung Evo 840 SSD.

When I turn everything to max on WoW and go to a place with many people to test my fps, I average at 32. This is while standing still. I find this a bit low.

Especially when my friends have older generations of i5 and older GPU's , and they hover at 50 and one even at 100fps at the same spot where I test mine.

Then I started thinking this had something to do with my CPU, so I started to monitor my temps, but I discovered nothing out of the ordinary. Hovering at 50° while playing. Then I ran the Intel diagnostic utility and the cpu passed.

After that I started to search for problems with the GPU, same thing as the cpu, temps were fine nothing special, hovering at 54° while playing. Switched between older and beta drivers to see if I could get more fps, nothing helped.

Now I'm testing my RAM as it is the last thing I can think of that could cause anything.

Does anyone have any input on what I am doing wrong or something? I can't figure it out.

In WoW a lot depends on server load and your FPS will drop if you are in a crowded place.
Can you test on some offline games to take that issue out of the equation?

Hi. Although your CPU temp is fine at 50c, it does seem to be a bit high. I am running a 4770k clocked at 4.6 Ghz and have never seen 50c temps while gaming. Usually low to mid 40's. I also don't think that is an issue as far as your FPS goes. The one thing I do see, is the 1333Mhz RAM. Maybe if you went to a higher frequency RAM ( and I suspect your friends are running at least 1600 Mhz ), that may help. Your processor is a good one as is the GPU.

I am running memtest atm, but I'll try it out when it finishes.

When I boot it it already sits around 42° don't know if that is abnormal or not.

Could be the ambient room temp. It will make a difference. Gets warm in this corner and I can see it in the temp rise ( about 5c max ).

I'm only having the problem with WoW, I tested some Tomb Raider and Skyrim. Can run them both on Ultra without any problems. So the problem is likely something on WoW's part. Thanks for the help all!
