Should I have gotten the R9 290?

I recently got the R9 280 (non-x) for 170 dollars. Should I have gotten the R9 290 for 390 dollars instead? Should I return the R9 280? I am running at 144hz 1080p. I have i7 4770. Let me know what you think.

For that CPU, you should go with the r9 290 just to get the most out of it and for 144hz, the r9 280 will not give you perfect frame rates, meaning that it won't be as fluid as it could be.

Yeah if you want really high FPS (for that 144hz monitor) then the 290 would be much better.
