Hello there

I was planning to build my system mostly to play AION. I would love to go for an AMD CPU but afaik there is just one mobo which has PCIe 3.0 slot. I have read in some posts that none of the cards (including titan) utilize PCIe 2.0 completely. My question here would be - how far is the above statement true? And can people with AMD chipset not play the latest games due to this reason?

Thanks a lot for the help.

The statement is technically true, but I think you're misinterpreting it. Very few cards need the full bandwidth of a PCIe2.0x16 slot; it won't perform any differently to a GPU in a PCIe3.0x16 slot.

Sorry for being overly curious and a pain in the back but am just trying to understand how this works (just for my knowledge). Since you guys mentioned about very few cards utilizing the full bandwidth of a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, you are obviously referring to the fact that the data channel between the CPU and the CPU is never completely utilized - which happens to be 8GB/s. So plugging in a PCIe 3.0 card to a PCIe 3.0 slot is totally pointless in that respect. But i still dont get why it cannot utilize the whole bandwidth if need be? Is it because the CPU/GPU cannot process data fast enough to fill up the entire bandwidth ?
