Hi.
So I've tried hwmonitor, coretemp and asus ai suite. Hwmonitor gives me two different cpu readings. One is named cpu under the motherboard column and the other named package under the fx 8320 column.
The temp in coretemp is always the same as hw package temp and the one in ai suite is always the same as hw cpu temp.
So which of those two is the one I should trust?
Amd fx 8320
Asus m5a97 evo r2.0
Coolermaster hyper 212 evo
Zalman z3 plus

Solution
In hardware monitor go by Package temps. Remember that the max core temp for FX processors is 61.1 Degrees
Celcius. There is not an official Amd socket max temp. Though I would be concerned if they go past 75 Degrees celcius.
The exceptions on core temp are the FX 4100 and 6100. Thier's is 70 Degrees celcius. This info came from Amd Global Support for North America. Remember that when your in Bios your mobo is running full bore that is why themp is seems higher. Once
you boot your system then your temps drop. The Idle speed of your cpu which is 1.4 Ghz will kick in and core temps drop.
Hope this helps.

The cpu temp in bios showed 41c and when i got to windows hwmonitor cpu temp was 43c and hw package temp was 38c.
When using prime95 earlier today for about 10 minutes hw cpu temp and ai suite temp was 64c and hw package temp and coretemp showed it to be 49c.
So there's quite a difference between those two.

Yep thanks. Just the answer I was looking (hoping) for. :)
I guess the package temp cant really tell idle temps as its usually below room temp when idle, but that dont really matter.
As long as my max temp when using prime95 are under the max temps of the recommended for the cpu I'm happy.
