Should I Upgrade (R9 270X to GTX 770/GTX 780)

With upcoming games like GTA V, Metro Redux and Far Cry 4 likely to tax my GPU I've been wondering if it'd be worth an upgrade to a GTX 770 or a GTX 780. Ideally I want a GPU that'll happily run every game on highest settings at ~60FPS and I don't want to upgrade for another 2 years at least.

Also worth noting my motherboard doesn't support crossfire/SLI (M5A97 R2.0) and my CPU is average (AMD FX6300) however I do intend to overclock it to 4.3GHz.

If you are gaming OK now, wait until those new games come out and see if you need more graphics power.
Over time, the price performance of new graphics cards tends to get better. It is a very competitive market.

The GTX770 is a fine card. The main issue I see is that it is not a truly big jump in capability over your R9-270X. You may be disappointed if you do not see a significant jump in performance.

I think I would look for a GTX780 or R9-290X class card.

R9 290X is just as expensive as a GTX 780 and I've heard more positive reviews regarding the 780 and NVIDIA in general.

That's a good point on the GTX 800 series but if anything I'd be more inclined to wait for them to release and for the prices of a 780/780ti to drop seeing as they both seem like perfectly capable cards for a good few years.

Yeah true I can generally run most games now at near max settings at 60FPS by lowering AA and other features (Wolfenstein, Thief, BF4) so I probably will just wait until my card starts really struggling (which I expect it too with GTA V but we'll see) and then upgrade to the GTX 780.
