major pc problem -- no idea what component it is

A couple days ago, I was in the middle of playing a game on my computer, and it just shut off, powered back on, and it sounded like the fans were running @ 10,000 rpm's but nothing would turn back on. I turned it off, checked my connections to every single thing inside my PC, and nothing seemed to be a problem. When my computer hours later turned back on, it was giving me a BIOS "CPU Temperature Error" and it was reading something like 95 degrees celsius, so I just turned it off and ordered a new cooler (I was previously just using the Intel stock cooler)

Got my Noctua U14S in yesterday, plugged it in, everything was fine, system was quiet, idle temps running below 30 celsius for GPU/CPU.. But today I went to play the game again, alt tabbed to check a message, and my computer shut off and did the same thing. Nothing is coming back overheating, or having any sort of issue. I play in a very cool room with the A/C on virtually at all times.

My PC is a few months old, but the parts are:

CPU: i7-4770K
GPU: GeForce GTX 770
RAM: 16GB Ripjaw
SSD: 128GB Samsung Evo
Mobo: Asus Z87-A

If anyone has even basic things that you think I can do.. I'm all ears. I've checked all the basic stuff, ran hardware monitors, checked fan speeds... I don't know what's going on or why it's happening.

I'm thinking it might be the GPU? It happened just now, but when it went black, for a brief second I could still hear everything. My GPU temps are perfect though, and it's seated properly.

Ran at max, walked away to do some laundry and came back and my PC light was on and my CPU cooler was running but everything else was just off. It was running for about 5-6 minutes and was really having no issues, max temps I saw was 70 celsius.

Ya, I was extremely careful and removed the previous thermal paste that was there. This situation happened to me before I bought the new cooler, and only happened after a few months of use without even a single hiccup or issue, and is just happening still, which is the only reason I'm so confused.

Would I not know this for months? It performed fine without any issues since I bought it, would it take this long to know I got a bad chip? I'm taking it to a computer repair shop tomorrow to use their Power Supply checker and make sure I'm not doing anything wrong with my heatsink.

Just to do a follow up: Took it to a computer repair place today -- they did a check w/ a PSU checker to make sure it was still running properly, and it was fine. If it was my CPU or GPU, would it cause the issues I described in the OP?

Also noticed I'm getting critical errors related to USB drivers (despite that all of my drivers are up to date and brand new as I am on a fresh reformat)

The device MTP USB Device (location Port_#0011.Hub_#0001) is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the device 5 more times. Please contact the device manufacturer for more information about this problem.
