I will keep my existing 1TB to use for storing photos, music, videos, and other documents. I intend on storing all of my applications and most importantly Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium on the new Samsung 840 250 GB SSD. When I first fit the SSD I Understand I need to check a few things are set in the bias, and it's best to unplug the HDD whilst installing Windows 7 from a clean install. I have a couple of questions that come to mind at the moment - first, do I click format on my SSD even if it is totally brand new straight out of the box (I.e. when I am about to install Windows 7) and secondly, do I create a partition bearing in mind a couple of dozen or so applications and games will also be going on the SSD?

Solution
For a clean install (good choice!) there is no need to format or create partitions.
The Windows install will do whatever it needs.
