So i decided to upgrade my motherboard from an msi z77a gd65 motherboard to a newer one since i've been getting some stuttering problems in some games. I have a budget of about $200 and i want to buy one of the newer motherboards, do you guys know if my cpu (i7 3770k) can run on a 1150 socket motherboard? if so, then you guys suggest some motherboards to buy that fit my budget? thank you.

Spec info
i7 3770k @ 4.2ghz
SLI gtx 680 2gb vram
8gb corsair vengeance ram
850w Corsair psu
samsung ssd
msi z77a gd 65 motherboard

lol well are my options really that limited then? what do you think i should do at this point? I need to replace this board since I have a feeling that it could be causing performance issues with some of the games that i play. What do you think of the msi z77a g43 that i linked? should i just go for the asus board?

Hmm, looks pretty good, do you think its a decent upgrade from what i have now or pretty much the same? whats different about it besides the quad sli?

Is it still considered an upgrade though? i'm replacing the motherboard i have in the first place to get an upgrade to see if my stuttering while playing certain games goes away or not. I don't want to downgrade or buy something very similar to what i already have and end up with more issues or the same issues. I'm willing to spend more than $200 just as long as its an upgrade.

No matter how you cut it, you're gonna' have 8x8 PCIe speeds when SLI'ing video with an Ivy Bridge. As marc79 sez, chances are it's not the mobo. Depends on which games, how they're played, (MP maybe?), how many sprites/units on display at any one time, internet connection.......

I'm actually not sure that my problem is motherboard related at all..just a hunch. I just decided to upgrade something to see if the problem goes away since i tried everything i could think of already including constantly looking ot for new drivers and reinstalling windows more than once. If i do get one of the 1150 motherboards along with a new cpu, will i also be able to use 16x16 when SLIing or is it still 8x8? also you cant have ANY 1155 socket that can do 16x16 at all?
