Hi i have the asus a88xm-plus mobo, and i'm planning to buy the cooler master hyper 212 cooler.
So i'm hoping that i can put the cooler exhaust hot air from the top, but i think that the RAM will be in the way, cuz i have a high profile ram, so can i move the ram to another slot away from the cpu?

Solution

Yes, you can move it. Keep in mind that you are not utilizing the full potential of your ram because it is designed to work in pairs of identical sticks.

hey... i just googled that mobo and it has 4 ram slots so maybe if you are not using all the 4 slots you can try putting the ram memory in the 2 slots at the right side... so it *maybe, just maybe* gives more space to put the cooler from the top of your case on the 212 hope that helps... cause you only can put the ram on the properly slots the mobo has...

I'm assuming you are using two of the four slots. You are probably using slots one and three now (same color). Those two are the preferred slots because they are closer to the cpu, but you can move the sticks one slot right (slots two and four- same color) and it will make very little difference. Just don't move both sticks to the far right (three and four - different colors) or they will no longer run as dual channel.

Hopefully moving one slot over will give you the room you need. If it doesn't, there is always the option of removing/cutting down the heat sinks on the ram.
