I'm putting together my first build in several years and having trouble getting it going. Fans are running and everything seems powered but I'm not getting visuals or noises. I've been through the steps in this ( http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems ) but hoping others have more advice. Neither the case or motherboard have a speaker (I think), but I hope to pick one up later in the day.
My build:
CPU: AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Value 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GT 640 2GB Video Card
Case: Silverstone RL01B-W-USB 3.0 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Antec High Current Gamer 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Edit: Looks like it is the motherboard. New one on the way, fingers crossed it will work.

I see, I think you need to get your hands on another video card and start with that, your PSU is good enough for that build so that shouldn't be a problem, have you checked that you inserted your memory in the right slot? Sometimes motherboards need you to plug it in a specific slot if it is only one module.

Did you connect your Monitor/TV to your dedicated video card or your motheboard? I had the same problem myself and it was just because I had connected it the motherboard and I had disabled it.

The motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics but I have tried multiple monitors, cables and both HDMI and VGA connections. The lack of onboard also means I haven't been able to remove the GPU and try anything without it.

I tried it in every slot and no change, really regretting only getting one, stupid choice on my part. I will try to get my hands on another video card.
