So here's the problem my current setup :

i3 2100 3,1Ghz
Asus P8H61-V
AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB
8GB RAM
600W PSU ( Really dont remember brand, but pretty sure it's 600W)

Now, I mostly use this for gaming, Battlefield and Skyrim usually run on high at around 30FPS, so i'm trying to improve on this, first thought was a new video card, but the problem is that I also play games like FSX and ArmA 2, which are incredibly CPU heavy. I would gladly stay running intel, but for me to go to an 4th generation i5 would require a new motherboard, which wouldn't then allow me to get an upgrade video card, so it comes down to what's currently more important.

my budget is around 250 euros max. So buying both doesn't seem like an option.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance !

Hi. Just go with an i5 in the gen that you do have. It will be a decent improvement. You may have to update the BiOS, but not sure.

Well yeah, giving some thought in it, getting a same generation i5 just feels like delaying the problem. I'll probably end up getting either a new mobo + cpu so I can be abit future proof for the next 2 years at least, or getting a new GPU and waiting till the end of the year for a new mobo + cpu.

Either that or going AMD for my cpu ^^

You can get ib, with is 1 gen newer, 1 gen behind modern and it really isn't much different. There's no point in sticking with the same gen when your mobo accepts newer. These cpus can still max any game and last for 2 years. My bad, I posted pounds when you said euro. What country are you from?

I'm from The Netherlands. only thing I could actually manage to find was a i5 3470 and a PowerColor ( never heard of it) R7 260x, that comes up in total at about 280€, ironically the 3rd gen i5 is the same price as a 4th gen.
