It may be covered in the Guide for the Z97 Motherboard.

A more valid question would by WHY? There is almost no reason to overclock i5/i7 cpus.

According to http://www.digitalstormonline.com/unlocked/intel-devils...

You should be aiming for Vcore = 1.35V and clock = 4.6GHz

Otherwise got though the usual overclocking steps

These guys - http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2014/07/03/intel-core-... got 4.8GHz but at 1.8V!!! I wouldn't go near it.

True. The i7 is 4.0 Ghz out of the box with 4.4 Ghz in Turbo. Not sure of what the i5 is.

What I would ask even more valid therefore is why not? It's a K. It gives performance increase.

4.5ghz up from 3.9 works.

That link shows what they got (4.6). 4.5 should be easily do-able.

I was referring to the i7 4790k. Those things are 4.0 out of the box with a 4.4 turbo. The i5 4690k is 3.5 with a turbo of 3.9. Pretty much what I got with the i7 4770k. OC'd that to 4.5. I have seen 4.8 on an i7 4770k a few times, once using a big Noctua cooler.
