I am planning to build a new gaming PC. These are the parts I am planning on getting:
*CPU - Intel I5 4670k
*CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
*Mobo - MSI Z87-G45
*Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws X (16 GB, 2x 8) (1600)
Storage - Western Digital Caviar Black (1 TB) and Samsung Pro (256 GB)
GPU - EVGA GTX 770 2GB Superclocked ACX (02G-P4-2774-KR)
Case - Fractal Design R4 w/Window
PSU - Corsair CX 600W
Optical Drive - LG WH14NS40
OS - Windows 8
Soundcard - Asus Xonar Essence STX

If anyone can recommend better part/alternatives, I will gladly take them into consideration.

Side Note: I know an optical drive and sound card aren't necessary, but I prefer having the luxury of having them. (If you can find me cheaper alternatives to these two, I will take them into serious consideration)

Your build is perfectly fine and will run great. There might be a way to change some components out for other that might be cheaper and such but if you can afford this exact builds theres no reason not to get it. The only bad thing is the PSU.

Corsair CX series PSUs are good for the price but are more suited for entry level builds I would not trust one with high end components like these.

Get something XFX Seasonic or Rosewill. They basically dominate the PSU market with the best quality PSUs

I would go with this Motherboard : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157503 MSI hasn't proven to be all that reliable. Also with this chipset you can upgrade to the new generation processors. If you must use Windows 8. you should get 8.1 althoiugh you would get a free upgrade. It is less probalematic to get it out of the box. To save money you could run Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

Not really any advantage over the Z87. What they do do is give you the option to run the newer Processors such as Devil's Canyon & Broadwell when they come out.
