Display not working

My GPU (AMD 5450) is not driving my display (Acer AL1702W), however it has no problem running my samsung d5000 display. However, it works fine with my onboard graphics the problem arises when I try to run it with my gpu in which case it gives me a no signal message. Also if we swap the cable from the acer to the samsung after boot the display settings in windows shows that the display is acer and the recomended resolution is being set by windows but I still don't get any output from the display.
Can anyone please tell me whats going on and how I can fix it. I can't think of any good reason why this would happen

witch of the input you use on the acer the vga or the d-sub .

that monitor have a vga input http://www.game-debate.com/monitor/index.php?mon_id=682&monitor=Acer%20AL1702W%2017inch and the gpu have a vga output http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/5000/5450# so i would try the vga .

They are both the same thing. DE-15 is a VGA connector.

did you try the acer with the sansung cable at boot directly not switching when the system in on also the dont use the same screen resolution so only one monitor on the card the acer or the tv .

I did try with a different cable but got the same result with only one. I din't try to set a resolution windows automatically detects the display and selects the default resolution.

they have support up to xp but found something for vista you could use ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/monitor/lcd/

The driver was not helpful

I don't think its a driver issue, the display doesn't even display the bios or anything it just displays "no signal".

then i would check that acer on another system there is something with the video input on it or try your gpu in another system with the acer on .

The monitor works fine on other systems and even on my igp it just won't work with my card's port. The gpu works fine in other systems as well.

check the monitor on witch input he is on vga when you put it on the only other thing i could see is compatibility issue with the gpu and him the other thing that came to mi mind check both refresh rate of them if they are at 60 hz .
