I am looking to buy a new graphics card for dual monitoring netflix/youtube while i game. I am currently looking at a 760, r9 270X or a r9 280X. i am most interested in the R9 280X but i am worried that it will not work with my power supply. Here are the specs:

Power Supply: Corsair cx500
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: AMD FX - 4130 (4 CPUs)
Memory: 16G over 4 sticks
Current GPU: Radeon 7750 HD

What card would be best?

Solution
If you already have it, it should be okay, but a quality 600W+ PSU would be better. The 280X needs 30A on the 12V rails, and the CX 500 V1 has 38A and V2 has 34A, so you'll be just inside the line whichever version you have. You'll have to try it to be sure.

If you're going to skim it that close though, you'd be better off using a higher quality PSU like a SeaSonic, XFX, or higher grade Corsair. The manufacturers include a generous safety margin when listing minimum recommended requirements because they have no way of knowing what end-users are actually going to hook them up to, but the higher the quality of PSU, the closer you can cut it.
