Hi guys, I've been researching for a while now to get a good setup for my first PC, and there have been many different opinions on which CPU to get. I plan to use this build pretty much for gaming, and the games I run I believe to be more CPU-intensive (WoW, DayZ, Skyrim). I have never overclocked before, and am not very knowledgeable with getting the most out of parts, etc (though I would be willing to learn). I was going for this setup so far:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sN3K23
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor - $200
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler - $37
MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard - $120
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory - $75
Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Dual-X Video Card - $190
Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case - $70
SeaSonic 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply - $90
LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer - $17
I have:
Dell U2412M 60Hz 24.0" Monitor (1920x1200)
Kingston SSDNow V200 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Total: $798 Before taxes, ~$850 after tax
Some people suggested I drop down to lower CPU & mobo, such as the 4590S, while upping my grahics card. I would like this build to last me a while, and even if I don't overclock, it looks like the 4690k has been getting excellent reviews (also has higher 'clock rate' without overclocking to begin with? 3.5GHz vs 3.0), and the MicroCenter bundle with the mobo makes this setup around $60 more expensive... would it really be better to go with a better graphics card? I also tend to have a ton of stuff running at once, completely using up my CPU and Ram capabilities (dual-core E8400 & 4GB RAM), so I'd like to ensure that it will not be a problem.
On a related note, I'd like to have the build have a blue accent, which the currently selected mobo does not have (it's red) - I have seen mixed reviews on the ASRock z97 Extreme4, which IS blue... has anyone had any experience with that?
