how to split a ethernet connection

I am running a Ethernet cable for the first time to my room have to run throught the attic router is across the house I have a problem thought I have one Ethernet cable so I just want to know what so the best thing I just want to plug one in get 3 out just like I ran 3 alone cables

a switcher does the job.. but you said you have a router, isnt it better to get a usb wireless adapters or pcie wireless cards (those usb adapters sells for around 10$ but they are 1/3, 2/3 the speed of pcie's ) instead of using ethernet cables? :;D wifi ;)... cables needs to be changed sometimes ina while and it could be annoying... trust me i have both in my house iv changed already the cable of one computer a few times and when we move a computer...

Wired ethernet is vastly superior for home networking if you want to reach stationary high data needs, such video entertainment centers where the TV, Roku, and AV receiver each need an internet connection. Add media use desktops to the list too. It also allows you to extend the wifi by adding access points to cover places where a single router in the attic has insufficient reach. Try having someone in your home streaming a full HD MKV file from an NAS over single WiFi router while others are watching netflix and gaming. As the home network manager, you will be made to know how you have failed to adequately provide for your family. ;)
