So I'm looking into upgrading my Dell Inspiron 570. I'm on a very low budget so I'm going to just start off with a new processor and I would like to know if this processor is compatible with the installed motherboard. I've also never built my own computer before so I'm very new to this.
Current Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor 2.80GHz
Future Processor: AMD A10-Series APU A10-7850K with Radeon R7 Series 3.7GHz
I checked the socket of the computer and I found it is AM3, but I'm not confident on that.

I read reviews and people have said this new processor overheats and needs a better CPU cooler and I was looking in to this:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan
I'm pretty sure it will fit.
So overall I was just wondering: Will the new processor work in my computer, will the fan be effective and fit/work, is the processor a good choice/do you have other recommendations?

Solution
There are no AM3 motherboards that support FM2. So the answer is no. You will need to replace your motherboard and most likely re-install your operating system as well.
