Hello, I would like to consult with you some questions regarding my PC upgrade plan
this is my current unit:
Processor: AMD Athlon II x3 455
Motherboard: Jetway A76M
GPU: onboard
Memory: GSkill Ripjaws DDR3-1333 4GBx1
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500gb
Power Supply: Aerocool Strike-X 600w

Im planning to change my processor to intel i5-4460 and motherboard to MSI B85-G43 Gaming. Is it okay to convert from AMD to intel using the same memory?
I play dota 2 so I guess I don't need graphics card. I only use free gpu in the motherboard. and according to intel, the i5-4460 itself has a Intel® HD Graphics 4600. How can I use it? do I need to install a drivers or something?
I dont have much knowledge about hardwares
I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance :)

Solution
Yeah you can, but that's some slow ram. If you have to use that RAM, your going to want to grab another stick if it. In my personal opinion, your going to want to run at minimum, DDR3-1600. Your going to also want to get a new power supply, just to be safe. In fact, with the age of your components, I think the only part you should reuse is your hard drive.

Depending on what you plan on doing, yes you may not need a dedicated video card. As for running the video of that CPU, no special drivers are needed. Just plug the monitor cable into the appropriate port on the back of your motherboard.

If you need help picking components, let us know.

Well there are many reputable brands available. How much can you spend for a power supply?

600 watts should he more than adequate, plus it can give you some wiggle room if you want to buy a video card later. As for the brand and your price range, I recommend these:

One last thing, If you do plan on using the CPU's on-board video, it would benefit if you got the faster RAM. Again it's not required, but it will be a huge help.
