I think all these components are compatible with each other, but I am not sure. I plan on using it for gaming and general use. I know very little, but am eager to learn.

$1018.85

Processor: i5-4590 $198.99

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2 $179.99

GPU: AMD Radeon R7 250X Asus 1GB Edition $99.99

Ram: PNY XLR8 8GB DDR3 1600 CAS 9 Memory Module MD8192SD3-1600-X9 $70.00

Hard Drive: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive MZ-7TE500BW $259.19

Power Supply: EVGA 500B 500W 80PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V 500W Power Supply 100-B1-0500-KR $48.91

Case: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition VL80001W2Z No PS Mid Tower Gaming Case (Black) $39.99

CD Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black) $21.80

OS: Windows 7 Premium x64 $99.99

My questions are:
1)Are all the components compatible with each other?
2)Do they utilize each other efficiently? (I think both the motherboard and the gpu are PCIe v3.0)
3)Are there far better or more cost effective replacements for any of these components?
4)Are there any known issues with any of these components?

I know I am spending a lot on the motherboard, but I want a motherboard that is good, upgradable and can support up to 32gig of ram, so I can just keep upgrading it for years to come.

Any help will be appreciated,
Thanks.

This is fine build, but it can be better.

That Asus is nice, but for the most bang for your buck, go cheaper, like the ASRrock Z97 Extreme 4. It overclocks well send should have all the features your looking for.

Also, since your looking for a gaming rig, drop that expensive Samsung SSD, get a Western Digit Blue 1 TB HDD and use that extra money along with the money you could save by getting a cheaper motherboard toward a better GPU, like an R9 270 or R9 280.
