recently(2 months ago) i bought i5 4570 with asus H81 ME motherboard, but now i'm doubting my decision because of the pcie x16 2.0 and also the audio chip that is realtek 887 which also is relatively old and kinda below average in quality. Now i'm thinking returing this board and get maybe half of its price and buy this http:// or this http:// .what do u guys think will i be making a mistake or the right choice,:??:really conflicted

There's no GPU that needs PCIe 3.0 right now. PCIe 2.0 x16 delivers enough throughput for any graphics card out there, and since PCIe is forwards and backwards compatible you're fine. As for the audio chipset, I've really never been able to notice a difference. I have a great sound system which are just two passive bookshelf speakers connected to a Lepai amplifier, which connects to my Realtek ALC889 (the soundcard that's part of the motherboard) via an auxiliary cable and the sound quality is absolutely superb.

From what I've heard, "quality" soundcards these days are for the most niche of audiences at best or are absolutely gimmicky at worst. Could be wrong there, but unless you notice your sound seeming distorted or that there's some kind of noise, I think your sound card is just fine.

A 16x PCI-E 2.0 slot won't noticeably affect GPU performance.

The Realtek ALC887 isn't terrible. If you just want better sound quality, usually your speakers are the most important part. Additionally, there are good quality sound cards for like $25 that you could add.

Changing your board isn't really necessary.

Anyway, I don't recommend either of those boards. I'd recommend this one instead, if you still decide to switch boards.

I think it runs at Gen I.

using gtx 760 msi tf/oc,planing to use for next 2/3 years as my 18.5 inch monitor's resulation is 1366*768 i could easily max all game, but some bench shows that 1%-5% performance increase in pcie 3.0,so thats when the doubt comes in mind as in coming years those 5-10 fps could be make or break (but i dont know for sure that will happen) and also from motherbaord reviews i saw they compared the new audio chipsets to dedicated sound cards. That is why i'm so confused :??:

You could have made a better choice but in my opinion it's not worth the hassle of swapping motherboards, just drop a cheap soundcard in for better 3D sound effects.

The performance advantage of PCI-E 3.0 over 2.0 is tiny, and at that res I suspect your system is already comfortably outrunning the monitor-anything over 60 FPS is largely wasted on a 60Hz display-and by the time your system IS beginning to struggle it'll be time for a full upgrade.

If it's showing as PCI-E 1.0 in GPUZ BTW, you should run the render test, click on the blue '?' beside the PCI-E info box, a lot of cards downclock and run at a lower spec under idle conditions and need to be loaded to run at full capacity.
And don't forget, you may need to reinstall Windows, or even purchase a new licence if you change motherboards.
