I reecently cleaned out my whole PC. Dusted, applied new thermal paste, virus scans, deleted old programs ect.

MY pc has an intel core i5 processor, geforce 660 GPU and 16gb of ram, i built it around a year ago.

It seems like a decent rig and has worked for a year, but since i cleaned everything out, i cant even run runescape on the lowest settings. I turned my pc on and it was at 20% usage, the second i load runescape it went to 90%. IF i load anything else it spikes from 50% to 100% every second and is extremely laggy and frustrating.

I have a feeling it is a virus, but i don't know what to do

EDIT: I checked online when i built my pc, the card required a minimum of 450W PSU, i got a 550W.

If you need any information i did not provide please ask i need to fix this

You can try a re-image, or re-install windows to check if it's something software related. Also check and report your temps. If the CPU cooler did not set properly it could be overheating.

i5 Processor's have a hard time with multi-tasking, Especially if the core is only a dual core. There are quad core processors for i5 but it is common to have a dual core. I would check the processor and depending on your motherboard age, you may want to upgrade to a i7 quad core processor to get the best performance for gaming and multi-tasking.

utter bullocks. all i5's are quads.

I just tested minecraft on Max setting and skyrim, and both caused pc usage to go to 90% or more, and lagged a bit.

Im not sure how to check pc temps.

EDIT: Downloaded HMonitor, this is what the temps are. Why does the fan say 0%?

Stupid me forgot to plug in CPU heatsink after reapplying thermal paste. I plugged it in but didn't help, which is odd.
