PC doesn't recognize my GTX 760 graphics card!

I just built my first PC and everything seemed to be fine. I updated all the drivers via the CDs I got and there were no startup hiccups.

Graphics card - Zotac GTX 760
Motherboard - ASUS P8Z77

So I plugged in the HDMI cable to the slot on the graphics card. The PC started up, no problem.

However, in Screen Resolution under Advanced Settings, it does not mention the new card. Instead this appears:

Chip Type: NVIDIA
DAC Type: NVIDIA
Adapter String: Microsoft Basic Display Adapter
Bios Information: GK104 Board - 20040010

Total Available Graphics Memory: 256 MB
Dedicated Video Memory: 0 MB

I have absolutely no idea what's happening here. I tried removing and re-installing the card to no avail. Everything else works just fine though, from the CPU to the RAM to the HDD. It might be something to do with the BIOS settings; however the ASUS manual isn't very helpful with explaining the BIOS.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix it, or at least what's wrong? As it's my first time with a custom build I'm somewhat of a newb and there might be something very obvious that I'm missing here.

Thanks.

If you haven't fixed it already, I'm guessing that your PC is using the CPU's integrated graphics processor. Try going into your BIOS and find the setting for display adapter. There should be an option for selecting PEG or PEG/IGP - if it's not selected already, select it, then exit to boot. If you can't see the GPU on the first boot, do a complete reboot again.

Go to geforce.com and download the latest driver. When you install the driver choose advanced install and choose clean install. Also what the make and model of the PSU(please just dont post the wattage as that says very little about the PSU).
