upgrade from i5 2500k

i have an i5 2500k paired wid h61m-s2p-b3 ..i was noob back then and had no knowledge..hence bought this mobo...its been almost 3 yrs and i m wondering should i upgrade to 4th gen cpu or simply buy a new z77 mobo and oc my cpu?pls help.

There's certainly nothing wrong with the chip. At stock, it's not far behind the 4670K (within 16%, depending on the benchmark) in performance. Unless you need hyperthreading, or just want to get a newer chip, you'd get more bang for the buck by getting the mobo and OCing.
